Traveling thru to Pittsburgh & had an EXCELLENT meal. The reviews I'd read led us to this restaurant & they did not disappoint. I ordered the Monkey Balls w/ sweet potato fries & the long-awaited corn bread. My entire platter was excellent. I have zero compaints about this meal.

Ribs were awful. Nothing but fat. Cornbread and pie were good but this isn't enough to bring me back.

The BBQ is good but the sides are pretty mediocre. I do enjoy the cornbread, however. Portions are large and I'm usually able to share a meal with a friend which makes it a very affordable option.

Stopped in with my boyfriend on our way from NYC to Greensburg - I did some research for a good dinner spot on the way and came across Gorky's, so glad I did! The BBQ was great, portions were huge, and the shots were a good size. The ribs were absolutely perfect - not a single bad thing to say. Cornbread was so good I ate it after I dropped it on the floor (ok, I was a bit embarrassed to ask for a new piece).

We went for dinner. I had the grilled sausage sandwich with coleslaw and steamed vegetables. It would have been better on better bread but it was still flavorful. Friendly relaxed atmosphere. No liquor license but coming soon. However they're happy to let you BYOB. There are about 8-10 sides to choose from. Portions are adequate but not excessive. Prices are cheap. The coleslaw has no mayo & is tangy & crisp. The sweet potatoes are super hot and nicely sweetened. Would love to go back and try some other things. They have many homemade desserts (that we didn't try), incluuding key lime pie. There's a big smoker and grill right outside. Would definitely go again. PS The sweet tea was REALLY good - sweet but not too sweet and a reallyy flavorful tea (and fresh).

As awesome as barbecue can get. Some of the friendliest and down-to-earth people run this establishment a few blocks from the Doughboy at Mount Pleasant's center. My pulled pork sandwich was a masterpiece. Just enough sauce to get equal notes of the meat and the sauce at once. I had the Gorky's house sauce; a medium between the sweetness of St. Louis barbecue sauce and the acidic bite of Carolina barbecue sauce. The homemade cornbread is moist , fluffy and delicious. Do not hesitate to upgrade to the sweet potato fries - you won't regret it! Finally, even if you can't finish another bite - you won't regret taking home a dessert for later. As we speak, I can't wait for late-night peachberry cobbler. Expertly prepared, fairly priced, and as friendly an atmosphere as you can ask for. Can't wait to go back!

Some of the best smoked ribs I've ever had. Huge portions, reasonable prices, friendly owners!

Great newer barbecue place in mount pleasant. We stopped in to talk about westcoderby.com roller derby, but ended up coming back because the place smelled so awesome and the owner was friendly. Food was amazing. Everything fresh and the smoked meats were delicious. Try the deserts as well, warm pies and cakes with ice cream... Yum!

Awful. Food is passable. Alcohol selection is depressing. Ghetto seating. The owner is an ass. It's March, there's 2 customers, a crap dj and a roller team screaming, and he doesn't have the decency to put basketball on the tv for his paying customers. If I owned this place, I'd burn it to the ground and go into hiding. Worst place I've ever eaten at.

Awesome waitress. Very clean. Friendly, upbeat, courteous, attentive staff. Quaint atmosphere. Can't wait to try the food. And, excellent food. We will be back

We arrived at 7:15 and were told that it would be a half an hour wait. We feel like we were just told that to discourage us from staying because they were so overwhelmed. There was an empty table and another table was getting up. We ended up getting seated within 15 minutes so that was a bonus. Service was soooo slow I almost ate my own ribs. They will let you try the sauces which I liked. All the sauces are spot on delicious. The side portions are SO tiny. The cornbread is delicious is the best-order that. So that's where the good ends. I had brisket and it was thin, tough and not juicy at all. Again, the sauce was really good so I was able to get some down. We also ordered ribs. No no no-hardly any meat and we would need a saw to get it off the bone. Huge disappointment. We had one and a half nibbled at before we had to speak up. Yummy looking desserts passed our table all night but we didn't want to wait another minute so we declined. We finally left at 9:10. Almost 2 hours in unacceptable for poor food. I'd wait 2 hours for food if it was the best food ever. This just fell short.

I was really disappointed with the food. When I ordered the 1/2 lb brisket.. I was hoping to get brisket with a slice of bread or something. but that was it.. no sides no nothing. The brisket was a bit chewy, not tender as I would have liked it to be. We also ordered some Chicken Nachos which was okay. The smoked chicken on the nachos was great.. but the rest of the stuff was mediocre. The most disappointing part was the pasta and cheese side we ordered.. I am sorry but that was just flat out no good. It was penne pasta mixed with some fake cheese sauce in a small styrofoam cup. It seems like someone got really lazy there.. The best part about the lunch was the server, she was very nice and helpful with the suggestions. They also had a big list of "specials" that were not listed on the menu but on a small board on the wall. it would be nice if they could print them and let the customers look at them along with the menu.

I couldn't wait to eat there. I was disappointed. Instead of real food. It came in a can.Prime Rib was mostly fat. Waitress services was bad. Sad but true. I know what I'm talking about. I was Asst. Manger of the Brown Derby. Plus I have a place.

This is a duplicate for the fully named, "Gorky's Smokin Grill," for those with memory issues. The grub is good, and the ambiance is definitely country with knotty pine everywhere, and the aroma of BBQ wafting the air currents. The pork ribs are what the joint is known for, but I suggest selecting a stronger finishing sauce for the indoor caramelization just before serving. The Gorky Sauce is a bit non-descript, and as the marinade lacks punch, you really need a stronger finish. Still, a superior rib. And, the secret specialty of the house are the desserts. Don't leave Gorky's without one! Their cheesecake tastes like it comes from Junior's.

The server was the best part of the trip! She was very nice. I had chicken nachos... They tasted so so... Way to expensive! I also had pasta and cheese as a side... $2 for about 12 penne pasta noodles with a squirt of pre fab cheese sauce... Wouldn't recommend this place, wouldn't go back!

Well...The owners wife seems pretty on top of things and the key lime pie was great. We tried ribs....dry and fatty but is tasteful. Not a standout item. The sausage burger was good. Sweet potatoe fries good. Other stuff moderate all through the menu is moderate to good. It's surely different in atmosphere a shot back to the Grove days in that respect and nice people but cut differently from a trading family restaurant. Lots of hard work can be demonstrated but seems to not have a real hook as to call it the barbecue place I would brag about. Again fair acessment ..Average ..to moderate. Get better product and get a hook on a have to have again product line..The BQ. Just isn't the drawing card. And the bar is a 2 drinker and I'm out of there. But again...safe...Local hit and run place.

Ate here for the first time yesterday; the food was DELICIOUS and service was WONDERFUL! Try the Blowout Burger and caramel cheesecake. They are off the charts! There's no way you could leave here still hungry! We will definitely return and recommend to everyone!

The owner & service were very nice. We had the ribs they were ok. Corn bread was good. We will need to go back to try the salmon.

Everything that can be is made from scratch, including the amazing deserts. This place was an hour out of my way and was worth every second. The best bbq around the burgh- no question!
